Light Painting… it’s personal.

fashion lightpainting

Light painting first entered my radar when I was at college in Swansea, S Wales.  I came across some transparencies that a fellow student had been experimenting with and got completely hooked on the lighting technique from that moment on.  It’s generally a technique that quickly gets abandoned by most photography students.  You can get lost in the process very easily and create something eye catching, intriguing  and beautiful.  It’s also very difficult to replicate too.  In a digital world, where most are looking for certainty, it gives you the opportunity to break the rules and step into the unknown.  Now who wouldn’t want that?
After years of honing the technique in the studio I’ve developed a process of mixing the light painting with studio flash to create a style and look of my own, that adds to the emotion I strive to convey through my work.  The journey continues…

What Clients Say…

Julia is so much more than a photographer and her images speak for themselves. By spending time to get to know you, she is able to bring out something unique in her shots. Her passion, energy and enthusiasm is infectious and she will not be satisfied until you are completely happy with the results –I was and believe me – you will be!

Julia completed all of the portrait photography for my new website and produced photos that captured a lot more of the real ‘me’ than any other shots I’ve had taken before!

Julia is great at producing images that show a person’s real personality – she managed to drag it out of me during a shoot that was so much fun I completely lost track of time. I never thought I’d enjoy having my photo taken, but Julia changed that!

I’ve seen photos that Julia has produced of other people we both know and I can confirm that it is no fluke – she does capture the personality of her subject every time – they’re all really true reflections of the model!”

Working with Julia was great fun, as Julia completely understood my desire to use props to bring out the silly side of my personality. The photos from this shoot are to help me be more memorable when speaking on stage and for my website. Web developers aren’t renown for having a personality, so that helps me to be different. Julia and I hit it off instantly and she helped me to relax in front of the camera and came up with great ideas to add to the poses that I had in mind. The time flew by and was far more fun than I expected a photo shoot to be. Yes, the photos are silly… but they were A LOT of fun to create! I’m already working on ideas for my next photo shoot with Julia
